On Friday, immediately following a national appellate court determined that the administration must fully fund Snap food aid disbursements, the White House turned to the supreme court in a further effort to halt the ruling.

Not long after, the highest court released an urgent ruling immediately suspending full Snap food aid payments, which nearly 42 hundred thousand people rely on to feed their families.

“Government lawyers will not stop fighting, continuously, to protect and further the president's policies,” a senior official declared on digital channels around 9:30pm ET.

White House staff had requested the appellate court to stop a court ruling mandating they provide November’s full monthly nutritional assistance during a US federal government shutdown, and faced refusal that afternoon.

US Supreme Court Releases Emergency Order Halting Entire Snap Food Aid Disbursements

The top court's decision came after the White House petitioned a national appeals court this past Friday to halt a judge’s order that it issue this month's entire food stamp benefits amid a federal closure.

After that request to halt got rejected, the government appealed to the high court in a further attempt to block the ruling to completely finance food stamp disbursements.
