New Particulars Emerge Concerning the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the untimely demises of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore refuted circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
